Here at Worthing Windows, we love chatting to our customers, and one subject that crops up regularly is why we need to visit customers in person when giving them a quote for a conservatory or for a new roof for one.

Getting a quote by phone or email may seem an entirely reasonable request. For a roof, in particular, you may think that it would be very straightforward just to give us some measurements for the existing panels.

Here, we’d like to try and explain why we really do need to come out and see you in person:

A bespoke product

Our products are made to order. In other words, they are made to scale to fit an existing space. To avoid problems with fitting, we need to be very sure we have taken all relevant measurements accurately ourselves.

Shape and access

The shape of your conservatory makes quite a big difference to how easy it will be to fit the panels, and could also have an impact on manufacturing costs, should we need to create a bespoke template. Accessing the build is important, too. For example, will we need to remove fence panels or use scaffolding to do this? All of these points are things we have to take into account at this early stage, so that we know what we need to do.

Roof condition

Unless we see it for ourselves, if we’re replacing a roof, we can’t tell anything about its current structural condition, or understand what it’s made of. We always need to see for ourselves what needs to be fitted.

Age of the existing conservatory

Again, if we’re fitting a current conservatory with a new roof, your conservatory’s age is a key consideration. For older extensions, we have to check for issues to do with the structure’s age and how it has weathered, including warping and other types of movement.

For all the above reasons, we at Worthing Windows prefer to come out and see our customers in the first instance person if at all possible. We promise we won’t give you the hard sell. Give us a call now, whether you live in Ferring, Sompting or anywhere in between!
